Job Description:
The role will be responsible for managing and coordinating the procurement of medical, clinical, and laboratory supplies. The role requires a deep understanding of the medical industry, supplier management, and compliance with healthcare regulations. The successful candidate will ensure the timely acquisition of goods and services, manage relationships with vendors, and contribute to cost control and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement Management:
- Oversee the procurement of medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, consumables, clinical supplies & all indirect purchases (including printing & stationeries, housekeeping consumables) in accordance with company policies.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers and vendors.
- Develop and maintain a list of approved vendors and ensure suppliers meet quality standards.
- Supplier Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and service providers.
- Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations and resolve any disputes or issues with suppliers.
- Inventory Control:
- Monitor stock levels and ensure that procurement is aligned with demand, avoiding both shortages and overstocking.
- Ensure that medical and clinical products meet regulatory and safety standards.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, industry standards, and internal procurement policies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, invoices, and vendor communications.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably within the medical, healthcare or clinical domain.
- Strong understanding of medical product procurement, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and clinical equipment.
- Experience negotiating contracts with healthcare suppliers.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to medical equipment and supplies.
- Skills:
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a strong ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to analyse data and generate reports for decision-making.
- Knowledge of medical/clinical supply chain management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred:
- Experience in the procurement of medical devices, laboratory equipment, or pharmaceuticals.
- Certification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or related fields (e.g., CIPS).
Location: Nariman Point
Working Day: Monday to Saturday (Alternate Saturday's off)
