Job Description:

About the Role:

You will support the underwriting of the Korean Re IFSC Branch's non-life treaty portfolio, working closely with the branch underwriting team and other internal stakeholders. The role will focus on the treaty renewal cycle, which is concentrated around 1 April: analysing renewal submissions, supporting pricing and reviewing slip wordings. You will also develop and maintain Power BI dashboards to support the monitoring of renewals and portfolio performance. In addition, you will assist with the branch's reinsurance operations in coordination with the technical accounting team, including the verification and reconciliation of treaty accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the underwriting of the branch's non-life treaty portfolio across proportional and non-proportional structures

• Analyse renewal submissions and assess the completeness and quality of underwriting information

• Assess treaty performance and support technical pricing in line with the branch's underwriting guidelines

• Support the assessment of catastrophe exposures and accumulations using industry catastrophe models

• Review treaty slips and wordings for consistency with agreed terms, underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements

• Assess special acceptance requests for risks to be ceded to treaties

• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards to support renewal monitoring and portfolio management

• Monitor portfolio performance and prepare analyses and PowerPoint presentations for branch management

• Maintain complete and accurate underwriting files, renewal records and documentation

Secondary Responsibilities:

The role extends beyond core underwriting activities. As part of a closely integrated branch team, you will be expected to provide reasonable support to the branch's administrative and operational functions, particularly outside peak renewal periods.

• Support reinsurance operations with the technical accounting team, including treaty documentation, verification of technical accounts – premium, commissions, reinstatement premiums and claims – against treaty terms, and reconciliation of statements of account with booking registers

• Develop in-depth expertise in catastrophe modelling

• Provide support to other functions of the branch as operational requirements dictate

About the Team

The team manages the branch's non-life treaty underwriting. It focuses on disciplined risk selection, sound technical pricing, clear slip wordings and data-driven monitoring of the portfolio.

About You

• 3–5 years of experience in non-life insurance or reinsurance, predominantly in treaty underwriting, pricing or catastrophe modelling

• Prior experience working for a primary insurance company is an advantage

• Graduate or postgraduate degree in engineering, actuarial science, statistics or economics

• Good understanding of proportional and non-proportional treaty structures and reinsurance pricing techniques

• Hands-on experience analysing renewal submission data and reviewing treaty slips, clauses and exclusions

• Working knowledge of catastrophe modelling and industry-standard vendor models

• Strong proficiency in Power BI (data modelling, DAX, dashboards), Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; working knowledge of SQL is an advantage

• Familiarity with IFSCA and IRDAI reinsurance regulations

• Professional qualifications such as Associate/Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India (III) or ACII, or progress in actuarial exams, are an advantage

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present analysis clearly

• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and ability to manage peak workloads around the 1 April renewal

• A flexible and cooperative attitude, with a willingness to support work beyond your primary responsibilities when necessary.
